Cheap Special Olympics Medicine

Gang: One of the biggest misrepresentations of people with intellectual disabilities is that they aren’t funny. Like any group that includes over 200 million people, no generalizations hold up, especially not the one about being humorless. And if you want an example, check out the recent Facebook post below…

Here’s hoping that this September, you have many occasions to remember the admonition, “Always laugh when you can. It is cheap medicine.”

  1. As a single mom of an adult son with intellectual disabilities, I can vouch he has a wacky sense of humor. He makes me laugh every day. Of course, then I try to return the favor :)
