We’re excited to announce that former South African Olympian and the Future Princess of Monaco, Madame Charlene Wittstock, has joined the Special Olympics family as a Global Ambassador! The announcement was made this past weekend at the AMBER Charity Fashion event during the 69th Formula 1 Grand Prix weekend in Monaco. On hand to welcome her into the global Movement was Special Olympics Chairman and CEO Tim Shriver, plus former Olympics champion gymnasts (and current Special Olympics Global Ambassadors) Nadia Comaneci and Bart Connor.
As a global ambassador, Charlene Wittstock will be charged with taking Special Olympics’ message of inclusion and respect to a worldwide audience.
“As I enter a new and very exciting new journey in my life, I am thrilled to become a Global Ambassador for Special Olympics” said Charlene Wittstock. “Special Olympics is a Movement that has always been close to my heart as it uses the power of sport to make incredible changes in the lives of people with intellectual disabilities while transforming attitudes around the world.”

I stumbled across your post re the new Global Ambassador for the Special Olympics, Princess Charlene of Monaco. We would very much like to introduce our charity to Princess Charlene as we strive to mobilise the minds and bodies of differently-abled children. The Chaeli Campaign was founded 7 years ago by 5 pre-teen girls, who were determined to raise funds for Chaeli Mycroft’s motorised wheelchair. Chaeli has Cerebral Palsy and a muscular dystrophy. Our sports and recreation club encompasses various sports including ten-pin bowling, boccia, karate and wheelchair dancing. Inclusion is what we stand for, whether it is including a differently-abled child in a normal, mainstream school or watching abled and differently-abled children enjoy themselves, taking part together in one of our sporting events.
